Overseas investment has come of age; the globalization of finance and cheap air travel has encouraged thousands of ordinary people to take an interest in foreign investment, principally by purchasing a home abroad. Although the golden age of the luxury expatriate lifestyle has gone, many people work in other countries with lower taxes and are able, legally, to accumulate wealth more quickly than they could at home, while stock market investors have better direct access to foreign exchanges than ever before.
