About the Authors

Maureen R. Fizzell

Maureen R. Fizzell, B.Ed, B.Comm., M.Sc., CMA, FCMA has been teaching at the university level for 26 years, nine years at the University of Saskatchewan and 17 years at Simon Fraser University, where she is now the Director of the Undergraduate Program in the Faculty of Business Administration. In 2003 she was named a CMA/SFU Business Academic Fellow, and in 2004 she was awarded the FCMA designation. Over her university career, she has taught financial accounting from the introductory to the advanced level.

Maureen is an active CMA member who has served on the B.C. Board of Directors on two occasions. She served on the CMA Canada National Board of Examiners from 2000 to 2004, and on the B.C. Board of Directors from 1997 to 1999 and again from 2003 to 2005. As well, she has been a member of the Saskatchewan Provincial Council, critiqued exams and acted as a liaison between university students and the Society. During her 26 years of teaching, Maureen has received numerous teaching awards, including: Most Effective Professor in the Classroom Award at the University of Saskatchewan in 1990, TD Canada Trust Distinguished Teaching Award in 1996, and membership on the Teaching Honour Roll in 1997 and 2010 at Simon Fraser University.
