Part II. Introduction to Database Design

In this part, you dig in and get your hands dirty creating a working database. Throughout this book, we describe the development of an example Inventory system; this part is where we begin the project.

Starting with a fairly simple shell, our Inventory example grows as we develop it by adding new input and search capabilities, enhance the interface, automate repetitive tasks, and add powerful security and reporting features. Although this part lays foundations for the later chapters in this book, at the end of this part, you'll have the essentials of a usable solution and a collection of techniques to employ in your own solutions.
