Women in the labor market

Introduction

Shaw et al.1 suggest that the different labor market experiences of men and women, including the sectors in which they work, the managerial levels they achieve and the remuneration they receive, are replicated among business owners. In order to start a business, one has first to have access to cognitive and financial resources. If labor markets are sex- segregated, knowledge is also segregated and thus the potential to start a successful company is likely to be curtailed.
