THE PRACTICAL ANGLE ON CONCRETE ACTION STEPS

After receiving your feedback, an employee should know precisely what he or she is expected to do next. From a practical perspective, this means three basic things:

1.   You must first be clear on the purpose of the feedback:

What action steps do you want to see happen as a result of the feedback?

2.   Your feedback should contain a recommended next move. You need to let the employee know what action step to take.

3.   Your feedback should contain enough detail to enable a next move. This ensures the employee can actually take your recommended step.
