Abstract:

This chapter examines the failure behaviour of fibre-reinforced plastics when exposed to water and other degrading chemicals. It considers natural and artificial weathering through exposure to elevated humidity and temperature (hygrothermal ageing), seawater and salt spray, ultraviolet radiation, and biological organisms.
