Project completion and final thoughts

The paint is dry, the shelves are in place and your new ILS is running smoothly. Now is the time when many librarians just simply get back to their regular work as though nothing had happened. Don’t do this! You have planned, budgeted and worked hard to make sure everything looks good and functions well. Take another step back – look at the finished product with fresh eyes, take a deep breath and enjoy the moment. All too soon you will come in to work and think ‘hmmm, I wonder if I really wanted that shelving unit there?’ Or ‘why didn’t I migrate my archive records into my new ILS when I was developing it?’ But for now, it is time to celebrate your achievement.
