Michael Meadhra earned a bachelor's degree with area of concentration in art, with media specialty in photography. After an apprenticeship with a leading commercial photographer in Louisville, KY, Michael went on to open and run a studio in Nashville, TN where he developed a reputation for his lighting on advertising illustration assignments, some of which won ADDY awards from the American Advertising Federation. He also worked as a graphic designer and media producer and gained experience creating still images, animation sequences, and title effects using both traditional artwork/photography methods and digital technologies. After moving into management, Michael spent much of his time teaching and training others, and began writing to create the training materials he needed. That lead to a writing career in which he has authored, coauthored, or contributed to more than 40 computer book titles and hundreds of articles, including articles, chapters, and books on leading digital imaging software such as Adobe Photoshop, Corel Painter, Ulead PhotoImpact, and many others.

Charlotte Lowrie is an award-winning freelance journalist and professional photographer based in the Seattle area. She shoots portraits and editorial assignments as well as stock photography.
