JDS Networking Recap

In this chapter, we covered how to set up your Internet connectivity, locate systems on local area networks, and interoperate with remote machines. The material in this chapter prepares you for the next sections of the book, which covers the rich environment available under JDS.

In Chapter 6, we explain the primary user Internet tasks of email, web browsing and instant messaging. We also provide information in Appendix A, which covers networking commands. Appendix C provides information you can use to access remote systems to retrieve and edit files or set up applications on hosted servers.
