10.4. Summary

In this chapter, you've learned how to deal with a variety of data issues such as how to unpivot data and deal with multiple tables in the same extract file. Unfortunately, these awkward files are prevalent, and with a little creative package engineering, you can get around the issues. You also learned how to deal with various Oracle, DB2, and VSAM provider issues. Each of the providers that Microsoft and other vendors offer has its own benefits and problems that can be worked through with simple workarounds like parameterizing queries through expressions.

In Chapter 11, you'll learn how to convert legacy DTS packages to SSIS. This process may be more challenging than you anticipated.
