GoldenGate has a lot of moving parts that depend on other systems to operate properly. The goal for replication is to replicate data from source to target in real time without losing any data. Every system is different and has different strengths and weaknesses. You can monitor the weak points, but sometimes you may also want to monitor the strong points even though they rarely break.
