Troubleshooting Windows instances

Here are some tips to help you troubleshoot Amazon EC2 Windows instance problems:

  • High CPU usage shortly after Windows starts:

If you have set Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them for Windows updates, then it will consume 50-99% of the CPU on the instance. It will cause a problem for your application and you can manually change it.

  • No console output:

In a Windows instance, the EC2Config service, which provides the console output, is disabled by default. To get the output on the console, you need to enable it.
