Mechanical Behaviour of Materials

2.1 INTRODUCTION

Behaviour of a material against mechanical loading is an important consideration for a designer while designing a structural member or a machine member. A specimen of a material is tested under tensile loading to determine yield strength, ultimate strength, and ductility of the material. Toughness is another important mechanical property of materials which is obtained by notched bar import test.
