Setting Up Your Project to Use CDO

Before you can use CDO in your VB or VBA project, you must make sure it is installed on your machine. There are a variety of ways to do this, but the simplest is to open up the References dialog box in your development tool (under the Project menu in VB, and the Tools menu in VBA). This brings up a dialog box listing all the available COM libraries registered on your system. If the CDO library is available, there will be an entry for Microsoft CDO 1.21 Library. If there is no such entry, you do not have CDO on your machine, and you have to install it. It is an optional installation component in Office 2000 and is also available on the Web at http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/55/downloads/cdo.htm.
