Display a Timeline to Filter a PivotTable

Instead of grouping by dates in a PivotTable or PivotChart, you can use the Insert Timeline button (New!) to filter data based on dates to create a timeline over different time periods. In order to create a timeline, you need to have at least one field formatted as Date. Otherwise, you’ll get an error dialog box. After you create a timeline, you can specify a date range and apply a filter range to display the data you want. You can also use the Options tab under Timeline Tools to format the timeline and show the display information you want.
