Name

NA

Synopsis

Use NA to return an error value of #N/A. Excel interprets this error value as meaning that no value is available. One common use for this function is to mark cells where you may be missing information, rather than leaving the cells blank. If a function tries to perform a calculation on a cell containing this value, the function will return an error value of #N/A.

Note

You can also type #N/A directly in the cell and produce the same results. NA is available for compatibility with other spreadsheet programs.

To Calculate

=NA( )

Example

Figure 20-4 illustrates how NA can be used to place an error value of #N/A in a cell.
