Name

TINV

Synopsis

Use TINV to find the t-value of a Student’s T-Distribution if you know the probability and degrees of freedom.

To Calculate

=TINV(Probability, Degrees_Freedom)

The arguments are all required for this function.

Example

Figure 15-46 illustrates how TINV is used to determine the t-value for a student’s T-Distribution. You will notice that the value returned by the function matches the value of the X argument specified for TDIST.

Note

The function assumes you are working with a two-tailed distribution. If the distribution is one-tailed you can find the appropriate result by multiplying the value of the Probability argument by 2.
