Name

STDEVP

Synopsis

Use STDEVP to estimate the standard deviation, assuming that the numeric values specified constitute the entire population. The standard deviation is determined by measuring how widely the values are dispersed from the mean. All text and logical values are ignored by this function.

To Calculate

=STDEVP(Number1, Number2, ...)

There must be at least one Number argument specified for this function.

Example

Figure 15-44 illustrates how to use STDEVP to find the standard deviation of a list of numbers, assuming that the numeric values specified constitute the entire population. You will notice that the list of values that are specified contains two logical values in cells A5 and A7. The function ignores these values because they are not numbers. To include logical values in the standard deviation, use the STDEVPA function.
