Name

CHIDIST

Synopsis

Use CHIDIST to find the probability of a chi-squared variable with the specified degrees of freedom.

To Calculate

=CHIDIST(X, Degrees_Freedom)

Both arguments are required for this function.

X

Indicates a positive numeric value that you want to use to evaluate the distribution.

Example

Figure 15-4 illustrates how CHIDIST is used to determine the probability value for a chi-squared variable. You will notice that the value returned by CHIINV is fairly close to the initial X value of CHIDIST.

The CHIINV function returns a value that matches the X value specified for the CHIDIST function
