Name
File → Save
Synopsis
The File → Save option saves the currently selected workbook. If the workbook has not been previously saved, you will be prompted to specify a name and location for the workbook when you select File → Save, the Save button, or Ctrl+S.
Remember, someone running Excel 5.0/95 or earlier will not be able to open any workbooks saved in the Excel 97-2000 format. If you want to give a copy of the workbook to another user, first verify the format that the workbook is saved in by selecting the File → Save As option.
Save Often
To eliminate the aggravation of lost data, remember to save often. There is nothing more frustrating than spending two hours entering data into a worksheet only to have the power go out. To ensure that your workbook gets saved automatically you can also set the Tools → AutoSave option. The AutoSave option is an Add-in that comes along with Excel. It can be loaded by selecting the AutoSave Add-In on Tools → Add-Ins. (Refer to Chapter 8).
