Taste in mates differs, of course, but there are some characteristics that inarguably make a person a better catch. Looks and money come to mind immediately. We spend a lot of time with our mates, and they might as well be easy on the eyes and/or able to help us go on exotic vacations, buy a nice house, and reach other material goals. I will admit that—all else being equal—the better looking and richer my partner, the happier I expect to be.
