Transform Goals Into Objectives

Goals, even specific ones, are often difficult to measure unless you add qualifying criteria to turn them into true objectives. The goal specifies the person and the result he or she will achieve. For an objective, you add criteria to spell out under what conditions the results are accomplished and to what degree of success (figure 12-4).

The resulting objective is specific enough that you should have little trouble-devising ways to measure it. For an example, see table 12-1.
