Reasons to Perform a Level 2 Evaluation

Use a level 2 evaluation to see how much learners actually learn. A level 2 evaluation is especially effective in finding ways to improve the amount of knowledge transferred. Use a level 2 evaluation when:

  • Job performance depends directly on the specific knowledge learned. Thus, a learning evaluation predicts improvements in job performance.

  • You are teaching generic skills and knowledge that may be applied in many different kinds of jobs so that higher-level evaluations are not practical.

  • A meaningful yet economical evaluation is required. Much of the level 2 evaluation can be automated.
