Your Economic Role

Training cannot be evaluated in an economic vacuum. When you evaluate training, you do so from the viewpoint of your economic role. That role may be one of a producer of training, a consumer of training, or both (figure 2-2).

Producers supply consumers of training with knowledge and skills. In return, consumers pay producers. Producers, therefore, are often concerned with the profitability of the exchange, while the consumers are more concerned with the effectiveness of the resulting training.
