Part II. Ethernet Media Systems

Part II covers the Ethernet media systems in detail. The basic media components common to all media systems are described in Chapter 6. It is highly recommended that you read this chapter before reading any of the six media chapters that follow.

Information found in the set of six media chapters describes the most commonly used Ethernet media systems. Each of the media chapters is based on an identical format to help organize and clearly present the entire range of Ethernet media systems. However, the identical format leads to some unavoidable repetition, which is especially noticeable if you read several of the media chapters in a row.
