During training

Whether you're training one person or one hundred, you can use the following five-step outline to conduct your training meeting.

Introduction

Starting out the training meeting, you have several goals including making everyone feel comfortable and sharing the goals of the meeting. First, it's important to tell participants why this training is important to them. This is also known as What's in it for me? (WIIFM). When people have a clear understanding of why they're in attendance, and it makes sense, they are more likely to participate. Most of the time, when people don't pay attention in training, it's because they don't understand the reason they need to learn the topic or skill.
