While many Linux administrators are quite enamored with Linux and would like to work in a pure Linux environment, those scenarios are fairly rare. It is far more likely that you will work in a mixed environment, likely including Microsoft Windows workstations or servers. Therefore, it is important that you understand how to get Linux and Windows to communicate. In Chapter 12, “Network File System,” we discussed NFS, which in some cases can be used for limited Windows/Linux interoperability.
