The Wider View of Leadership

After describing a wide range of contexts that leaders are likely to find themselves in, I need to add one more essential variable. This is the absolute necessity to motivate your workers. A carefully crafted strategic plan may have been drafted and task forces organized to carry it out, but unless the troops are eager to begin to renew the organization according to plan, it’s almost certain to face possible failure or be implemented marginally no matter what the context. So in Chapter 10, I describe ways of motivating workers.

In Chapter 11, I return to the principles of leadership and describe how they can differ in application depending on different contexts.
