The demand for bandwidth is so great, and the problem of getting sufficient quantities across the last mile and into homes and businesses is so serious, that vendors are developing an array of solutions that use wireless technologies. We'll discuss three categories very briefly: wireless local loops (WLLs), MMDS (Multichannel Multipoint Distribution System) and LMDS (Local Multipoint Distribution System), and satellite links.
