Essential Electronic Design Automation (EDA)

Summary

The electronic product and IC industries are both supported by the EDA industry. EDA supplies tools to electronic system product design and IC design companies. The EDA companies also support wafer fab equipment and automatic test equipment manufacturers.

Design re-use can significantly speed up complex IC designs. IP vendors form a slowly growing industry.

Many issues pro and con surround the use of IP and the difficulties of re-use in general.

System-on-chip design is also growing. It has many implementation problems, however. At a higher level, the use of platforms is another SoC approach to rapid TTM.
