Chapter 13. High Availability
In today's business environment, downtime anywhere in the network is simply not an option. This includes your network security enforcement points. This chapter focuses on making firewalls highly available. I will touch on the issues that arise when you have more than one firewall in parallel and outline a strategy for load balancing traffic across multiple firewalls.
By the end of this chapter, you should be able to:
Configure FireWall-1 State Synchronization
Identify vendors that provide High-Availability and load-balancing solutions
Understand asymmetric routing and why it is bad for firewalls
Establish a method for load balancing across multiple firewalls
