Branching Out

There are a ton of things you can do differently with this design, from the color choices to the way the links are set up. Here are just a few to try out:

  1. Create “active” styles for the menu links. You don’t necessarily need to insert new icons or set new borders for the active state, although you could certainly do either (or both). One possibility with the second design is to invert the border colors so that the button appears to have been pressed inward.

  2. Experiment with different border styles for the first menu design. For example, you could make the separator line a double border and then set the border ...
