Starting your first ebook from scratch—from a text document, from a word processor document, or by writing directly in InDesign or InCopy—is the best way to begin learning to create ebooks. (That’s not to say you can’t start from an existing for-print InDesign publication; we’ll convert those to ebook form later in the chapter.) If this is your first ebook, even if you have the content already in another form, start with this section—there’s a lot of important information here.
