Preface

This book marks a significant milestone in the history of the Master of Science in Environmental Management (MEM) Programme in the National University of Singapore (NUS). This book is only one of the celebratory events to mark the MEM’s 10th anniversary (2001–2010).

We celebrate the anniversary for three reasons.

Firstly, there are few postgraduate programmes in NUS that are as multi-disciplinary in pedagogical practice. The MEM was initiated with the academic inputs of seven Faculties: Arts and Social Sciences, NUS Business School, Engineering, Law, Medicine, Science, and the School of Design and Management (SDE) which hosts the Programme.
