16.7. Wireless Security on OS X Server Using RADIUS

By default, when you connect to an AirPort based network you will only need to provide a password. According to how the network was configured, this password can be either pretty weak or pretty strong, but despite the strength of the encryption or the strength of the password, it has no policies that will lock the password out after incorrect attempts. Remote Authentication Dial In User Service (RADIUS) can help take the security of your wireless network to the next level by tying the password of your wireless environment into that of your Open Directory environment. In this section, we'll look at leveraging RADIUS to configure an AirPort environment to use Open Directory.
