STATISTICAL PROCESS CONTROL AND THE IMPROVEMENT CYCLE

In Chapter 5, we looked at the different dimensions of data quality, with the understanding that in any system, there are a number of specific aspects of data quality that may be important to the users. In this chapter, we see how we can use those well-defined dimensions and specifically quantify the levels of data quality. We establish the tools used for initiating the measurement and for determining at a gross level the degree of conformance to data quality standards. In Chapters 7 and 8, we will define a framework for defining data quality rules, and in Chapter 9 we will discuss ways to measure the data quality dimensions discussed.
