Chapter 33. Constructing J2EE Web Services for WebSphere

In this chapter, we will build an example Web service from the RandomIDGenerator EJB. In addition to providing a running solution, this example will be the basis for explaining WSDL as well as SOAP. The goal of this first example is to break down implementing Web services into the most basic steps. We'll then use this example to illustrate how the tools provided by WebSphere generate artifacts compliant with the various specifications. This first example exposes the simple session bean introduced in Chapter 20 as a Web service. In Chapter 34, we will enable the reporting feature of the time sheet application, as well as discuss some best practices for Web services.
