In this chapter, we have talked about platforms, what they are, and why we need one. We then discussed a few popular platforms. Following that, we set up Raspberry Pi 3 and the ThingSpeak platform, and built a solution where we posted the DHT11 sensor data to the cloud and visualized it.
In the next chapter, we are going to build the same sample solution, but using the AWS IoT platform to explore how that is done.
