Codes for construction of buildings are there for a good reason. As stated in many building codes, the purpose is to provide minimum standards to safeguard life and limb, health, property, and public welfare. This can be best accomplished by regulating and controlling the design, construction, quality of materials, use and occupancy, location, and maintenance of all buildings, structures, and certain equipment within the jurisdiction.
