During the spring of 2000, I was working on a project for a logistics company in England, during the height of the Internet boom. The client wanted to migrate one of their core applications to the Internet and open up a potential new market, but due to the complexities of their application, they were reluctant to dumb down the interface to fit into the Web model. Fortunately, we had just read a small article in a computing magazine about a technology called Curl, which promised to deliver rich applications over the Internet. My journey with Curl was about to begin.
