Much has been written about the blossoming Web Services industry, and depending on your level of skepticism with all things new in the computing industry you will either have jumped on-board the SOAP train or adopted a more cautious approach, waiting in the wings to see how this technology will evolve. One thing is certain, though: There has never been such a concerted effort between two camps, with Microsoft in one corner and everyone else in the other, to create true standards that will realize the potential of an emerging architecture.
