Metadata is a key ingredient for implementing the application and data transparency that is necessary for a successful EAI project. Directory services provide a procedural interface for applications to store and retrieve metadata, and share that metadata globally. JNDI is a Java API that allows our applications to treat multiple directory service implementations identically, and thereby, facilitate the development of federated directory services.
