The Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe®) is a modular, scalable system for orchestrating alignment, collaboration, and delivery for large numbers of agile teams. It got its start when Dean Leffingwell and his collaborators (now known as Scaled Agile, Inc.) began looking at how some of the largest organizations deliver software. What they found was a mix of Lean thinking, agile practices, and traditional top-down decision-making. The Scaled Agile team then consolidated and distilled these common practices to form SAFe.
