DSL Quality of Service

Before starting this section, you must have a basic understanding of ATM classes of service, such as unspecified bit rate (UBR). You might want to read Appendix B, with its explanation of ATM basics, standards, and usage, before beginning the following material. This section describes the DSL-specific parameters that constitute the DSL quality of service (QoS). Although QoS is used synonymously in the ATM world with class of service (CoS), in a DSL context, quality of service has specific meaning. It includes parameters specific to the xDSL variety and service level agreement with the user.
