The time spent on upgrading enterprise software varies little between small- and large-scale projects. Expect to spend a year or more from the time you begin pondering an upgrade to getting it running. Just determining whether to upgrade your existing system or to choose another solution can easily take 6–8 months. Matching your business processes to the software and deciding what changes are required can take 6–9 weeks.
