Most of this book is about getting there — getting started with employer branding and kicking it into high gear to attract, engage, and retain the talent your company needs to meet its business objectives. This chapter is about staying there — maintaining your company’s competitive advantage in the heat of the battle for top talent and even extending your lead (or at least closing the gap between you and the talent leader in your industry).

In this chapter, we focus on three ways to increase or at least maintain engagement and retention: by marrying your employer value proposition (EVP) and touch-point planning to ongoing employee engagement surveys, identifying and responding to retention risks, and managing engagement and retention through difficult times, such as during mergers and acquisitions.
