PART IV

The Other Side

While many work to bring out the best in people and strive to be surrounded by colleagues that inspire, there are still others who do not encourage engagement. Rather, they consider employee engagement as unnecessary or lacking value. For those with this mentality, it is important to reflect on past experiences and take an objective assessment of when you were most successful at work, while asking yourself three questions:

  • Did you serve a valuable purpose?

  • Were you empowered to deliver results?

  • Were you working in a fulfilling environment?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, at least some form of engagement was present.
