Boundaries are the limits we set for ourselves. Physical boundaries involve our personal space, how close we stand or sit next to someone; whether we shake hands or exchange hugs, for example.

Emotional boundaries are the limits of your emotional abilities, in relation to other people’s emotional needs and demands. Setting emotional boundaries involves taking responsibility for your own actions and emotions. Emotional boundaries also prevent you from accepting blame or responsibility for how someone else feels.
