Each and every one of us has essential physical and emotional needs. Physical needs are things like food, water, sleep, warmth and shelter. Emotional needs are things such as the need to be accepted, appreciated and believed. To be liked and loved, respected and reassured. To be able to trust and feel trusted. To understand and be understood, to feel valued and worthy.

Each of us differs in the extent to which we need these needs to be met. Just as some of us need more water, more food or more sleep, others may need more freedom and independence, and some of us may need more security and social connections than other people ...
