Role of Trace Elements in Alleviating Environmental Stress

Environmental stresses play an important limiting role in agricultural production. Environmental stresses adversely affect morphophysiological, biochemical, and molecular aspects of the plants, which ultimately lead to a reduction in growth and crop yield. To alleviate the effect of these stresses, plants have developed various approaches for their survival. Proper plant nutrition is one of the strategies in mitigating stress-induced damage in plants. Trace elements influence the growth of plant by modifications in biochemical attributes and antioxidant defense mechanisms and are suggested as important factors in stress tolerance.
